How to Go Live with Moblin on iOS Using CloudOBS
A step-by-step guide for IRL streamers — get from zero to live in under 5 minutes.

When combined with CloudOBS, you get a full professional streaming setup in the cloud — scenes,
overlays, multistream — without needing a laptop or local hardware.

What You Need Before Starting
• An iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later
• The Moblin app installed (free on the App Store)
• Your CloudOBS credentials — you’ll find these in your welcome email or your client
dashboard
Step 1 — Install Moblin from the App Store
Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and search for Moblin. It’s free to download. Once
installed, open the app — you’ll land on the main camera screen.
Step 2 — Open the stream settings
From the main Moblin screen, tap the gear icon in the top-right corner to open Settings.

Step 3 — Open the Streams section
Inside the Settings panel, tap Streams to manage your streaming destinations.
Tap ‘Streams’ from the Settings menu.
Step 4 — Create a new stream
Tap the Create button to launch the new stream wizard. Existing streams (if any) will appear in
this list.
Tap ‘Create’ to start a new stream.
Step 5 — Choose Custom in the wizard
Moblin will show a list of platforms (Twitch, Kick, YouTube, SOOP, OBS). Since CloudOBS uses
its own ingest server, scroll to the bottom and tap Custom.
IMPORTANT — Do not pick Twitch, YouTube, or any other platform here. CloudOBS receives
the stream first, processes it through OBS, and then sends it to your final destination.
Scroll down and tap ‘Custom’ at the bottom.
Step 6 — Select the SRT protocol
CloudOBS uses SRT — a reliable streaming protocol designed for unstable mobile connections.
It handles packet loss and network switching far better than standard RTMP.
On the protocol screen, select SRT(LA).
Step 7 — Enter your CloudOBS server details
This is where you paste the connection details from your CloudOBS welcome email.

Step 8 — Name your stream and save
Give your stream a name so you can identify it later (e.g. “CloudObs SRT”). Tap the back arrow
to save.
Step 9 — Go live from Moblin
Go Live
Back on the main Moblin screen, make sure your new stream is selected, then tap the Go Live
button. A confirmation will appear — tap Go Live again to confirm.
Your phone is now sending video to your CloudOBS server. Open your CloudOBS dashboard or
OBS remote to confirm the stream is arriving — you’ll see it as active
Step 10 — Start streaming from OBS
Once Moblin is connected, your CloudOBS OBS instance receives the feed. From here you can
switch scenes (BRB, Starting Soon, Live), add overlays and alerts, and start the broadcast to
Twitch, YouTube, or any platform.
TIP — You can control OBS remotely from your phone using the OBS Blade app — no laptop
needed.
Troubleshooting: Moblin will not connect to OBS
Stream not connecting?
• Double-check the SRT URL and Stream ID — no spaces, no typos
• Make sure your phone’s mobile data is enabled
• Try increasing the Latency value to 4000 ms on weak connections
Video looks pixelated or choppy?
• Lower your bitrate to 2500 kbps
• Move to an area with stronger signal

Moblin and OBS: common questions
How do I connect Moblin to OBS?
You don't point Moblin at OBS directly — you point it at a server that OBS is already listening to. In Moblin you create a Custom stream, pick SRT, and paste the ingest URL and stream ID of your CloudOBS server. OBS picks the feed up from there and sends it on to Twitch, Kick or YouTube with your scenes on top. The ten steps above cover the whole thing.
Can I use Moblin without a cloud OBS server?
Yes — Moblin can stream straight to Twitch or Kick. What you lose is the safety net: with no OBS in the middle, the moment you walk into a tunnel or a lift the platform ends your broadcast and opens a new VOD. With an OBS server the stream never stops; it cuts to your "be right back" scene and comes back when your signal does.
Does Moblin support SRTLA and two SIM cards?
It does, and it is built in and free. SRTLA splits your video across several connections at once — your phone's SIM plus a portable 4G router, for example — so if one drops the other keeps carrying the stream. The two lines have to be on different networks: two SIMs from the same operator share the same masts and give you nothing.
What latency should I set in Moblin?
Start at 2000–2500 ms. That is enough for SRT to re-send the packets it loses on a mobile network. If your stream still breaks up, raise it to 4000 ms — you add a couple of seconds of delay and gain a lot of stability. Setting it too low is the most common cause of a stream that connects and then stutters.
Why does my Moblin stream keep dropping?
Almost always the connection, not the app. Check the stream ID has no stray spaces, raise the latency, and make sure mobile data is enabled and not restricted for Moblin in your iOS settings. If it only happens while you walk, that is patchy coverage — a second SIM through SRTLA is the fix that actually works.
Moblin or IRL Pro — which one should I use?
Whichever matches your phone: Moblin is iPhone only and IRL Pro is Android only. Both are free, both do SRT and bonding, and both connect to CloudOBS the same way. There is no reason to change phone over this.
